I am a Shrewsbury based artist and printmaker inspired by nature, colour and light. Encouraged to pick up a pencil again some years ago by a wonderful local artist, I now enjoy working in a variety of different mediums.
My current linocut work explores the use of multiple layers of thinly applied extended ink to produce paler and more translucent layers. This leads to more subtle outcomes, but also creates its own challenges.
Birds remain a strong theme in my work as I am drawn to the distinct lines and shapes of their form and I am always looking to find the balance between realism and simplicity.
Monotype printmaking allows for more spontaneous and gestural mark making.
